HD Or Not When Buying A Flat Screen TV?
A lot of people are making the leap to some type of flat screen television and many of them are wondering whether or not they are going to need high definition capabilities. When determining whether or not to pay the extra money for a high definition screen, many things need to be considered.
The first important thing to consider is what size of a television set somebody is going to buy. If somebody is shooting for something that offers a 19″ viewing screen or even one that is anywhere in the 20′s then the difference between HD and SD is not going to even be detectable unless the viewer’s face is a foot away from the screen. Even in the early 30′s an SD model might offer an image that is indistinguishable from the image offered on an HD model. Anytime a person is considering a screen that is from the mid 30′s onward, they should only be looking at HD models if they worried the best possible picture quality. Any television that offers a screen somewhere in the 40′s is going to offer superior image quality through high definition screen technology.
If somebody plays a lot of video games or watches a lot of movie discs they might want to take advantage of the HD format as many of these modern video games and movie discs have been designed specifically for it. It is also important to consider that more and more of the cable boxes are being made in HD versions. If a person is going to be using their television for many things then they might be better off paying a little extra money for HD.
To sum things up, if a person is going to be buying a decent sized set that will be used for various modern applications then YES, they SHOULD go with the high definition model!
